Gingerbread House

This year I decided to build a gingerbread house with Sophia. I'd never built one before, but I saw a kit and thought it looked like fun. While Sophia napped, I put the house together, and when she woke up, I let her do the decorating. She actually did a great job and was really focused on placing each piece of candy in just the right spot.

But once she realized that her building materials were really candy, construction came to a halt!

And here's our finished product:
We had so much fun that I think this will become an annual Christmas tradition.

I bought a kit that was a gingerbread house made out of that craft foam. It was a disaster. I pretty much did the entire thing. It was hard to keep together and the stuff did not stay on easily with glue. Plus, Katherine knew that gingerbread houses were supposed to be made out of candy and was upset that hers wasn't. Next year I will get the real one.

That's a great-looking house! Someone looked like she sure enjoyed it, glad mommy did too!
